Kids Play Date

This event aims to facilitate social interaction through positive experiences. Older children can connect with peers and build friendships and social connections with other amazing kids who can relate with their journey.

Kids Play Date is designed to boost emotional well-being, reduce the stress, anxiety, and feeling of isolation and overcome societal stigma associated with childhood cancer.

Survivors Hangout with dJO

Adolescent and young adult event by invitation only. Intimate and safe space to express and explore common adolescent and young adult issues with or without relation to or focus on cancer. No parents allowed.

All issues are on the table and open to discussion – sex, career, gender identity, religion, politics, faith, cancer, career, chemotherapy, marriage, race, parents, fertility, nutrition, surgery, weight – nothing is off limits. Discussions are delicately and deftly moderated and navigated by Dr. Adedayo Joseph with or without co-facilitators with a track record of coaching people in this age group.

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, an annual international initiative to raise awareness and support for children with cancer worldwide. In alignment with the World Health Organization’s global initiative for childhood cancer, which aims to achieve at least 60 percent survival rates globally and reduce the suffering of all children with cancer by 2030, The Dorcas Cancer Foundation has been dedicated to this cause since our inception.

  1. Lit Up with Gold –An initiative for organizations to lighten their facility’s ambiance or a national monument in gold light any evening in September.
  2. Decorate with Gold– An initiative to decorate your facility corridors with gold ribbons/balloons throughout September.
  3. Wear a Gold Ribbon initiative to encourage individuals to wear a gold ribbon in September to draw attention and support for childhood cancer.
  4. Sing September Challenge – This social media awareness campaign invites participants to sing a nursery rhyme of their choice, tag a prize/vendor, and the video with the most likes wins a prize.
  5. Media Awareness Drive – A mass media awareness campaign that reaches over 1 million people to raise awareness and educate the public about childhood cancer.

Childhood cancer handbook lunch

The first childhood cancer handbook in Nigeria has been created and distributed for free, with more than 1,000 copies given to families and caregivers. Feedback from recipients indicates that 90% found the handbook useful, although the most common criticism was its length.
