Research Grant


The Dorcas Research Grant is an initiative of The Dorcas Cancer Foundation created to encourage childhood cancer research in Nigeria. This is a yearly grant that will be open to the public every year.

Grant Cycle: February 5th 2022 – January 31st 2023.

Grant Amount: ₦ 1,000,000

Review: January 10th – February 4th 2022
Notice of award: February 15th 2022

Purpose: To Promote Innovative Solutions to Pediatric Cancer in Nigeria.


  • Core area must cover pediatric cancer
  • Research must be carried out in Nigeria
  • Must include a Nigerian in the team
  • Multidisciplinary collaboration is encouraged
  • Open to all health care professionals, students, support/allied health care professionals, non-health care workers studying or working in the health care sector.

Monitoring and Evaluation: Grantees will work with TDCF research affiliates to enable delivery of set goals. Quarterly updates will be required.

Details of Project
This should include Background of the Project; Rationale/Relevence; Hypothesis; Aim and the Project Design. Maximum of 250 words.
Describe your approach to the project and how it will be completed within the time frame
State how this project will impact childhood cancer patients
Include a statement on how this project is a novel approach to childhood cancer research in Nigeria
Include a minimum of 2 citations relevant to your project. Use Vancouver referencing style
Include title of publication, Link to Publication, Journal published in and Date/Year of Publication
Include Names, Roles, Name of Institutions / Schools, Email Addresses and Phone Numbers

  • Project Proposal (Limit: 7 pages)
    Must include Introduction, Aim, Literature Review and Study Design.
  • Resume/CV of Principal investigator
  • Detailed Project Budget
  • Letter of Support if available
  • Ethical Approval from an Institutional Review board.

  • Font: Times New Roman, 11 point minimum
  • Margins: 0.75 in minimum

Top of each page should include:

  • PI (full name)
  • Institution
  • Abbreviated project title
